Measurements should always take place indoors, and every dimension must be recorded at no fewer than three separate locations:
– H is the shaft height from the finished floor to the top of the doorway opening.
– B is the net opening width from the left edge of the opening to the right edge.
– h is the remaining clearance above the doorway to the underside of the ceiling; standard provision is to keep 600 mm empty.
– b1/b2 denotes the sideline clearance, which must retain at least 200 mm to the intrusion edge; 500 mm must remain free to the service side of the driven motor.
When documenting measurement H or B, adopt the largest recorded value as the governing size. In the cases of h, b1, or b2, adopt the smallest measured value as the controlling dimension.
